Will I Be Satisfied With You? || Side Effects of the Called Creative, The Series

Writer: KhiaraKhiara

Hey Called Creative!

One of my favorite things about us is our ambition.

We know how to get to it!

Whether working toward massive achievements or generating strategies in ordinary operations, we’re almost always plotting on the next thing.

The unspoken mantra is “there’s always more”, right? As long as we’re breathing, there’s still more for the Lord to do and to do through us.

More to accomplish, more to gain, more to experience.

I believe the Lord graced us with ambition to fuel the great exploits He has mandated you and I to birth and pioneer in the earth. He has great plans for us!

I don’t know about you but I have notebooks full of His promises that will require vigor in my partnership with Him to bring into fruition; but as with anything, unyielded ambition can lead us into some wild and crazy circumstances the Creator never even intended for us in the first place.

Pursuing money and resources, influence, accomplishment, success and so forth (even if it is for good intentions like advancing the kingdom of Christ) lead to consequences that look like:

  • Expectation of fulfillment from what we’re striving after

  • Greed

  • Discontentment

  • Strenuous labor or toil

  • Idolatry of the Lord’s promises

And all around UNSATISFACTION.

Is ambition wrong? No.

As Called Creatives, we’re supposed to be ambitious! We’re supposed to be go-getters. How is that thing the Lord called you to do going to get done if you are void of the strong desire to see to its success?

For some of us, wealth, influence, achievement, even marriage will be our portion because our assignments need it.

However, when we look to get or achieve that promised success in exchange for satisfaction, we’re in a danger zone.

The Lord wants to remind us, Called Creative, that it is in Him and Him alone that our satisfaction is and will always be. Apart from Christ, we will never be fully satisfied.

Siri, play “Satisfied” by the Walls Group and turn it up!!!

Here are 3 things we can truly & fully receive from the Satisfier, Jesus Christ, alone.

1. Peace

This one is easy but we’re not ever too mature to be reminded. Think about the rich and famous people that have expressed their struggle with anxiety or depression; or even some of them that have unfortunately ended their own lives because of the lack of peace.

Jesus himself said, “Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid.[Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.]” - John 14:27

It doesn’t get any more clear than that. As much as I desire success in the promises of the Lord, if it has to come without the Prince of Peace, baby you can keep it!

2. Unconditional Love

Think about the person that probably loves or loved you the most; or, for single Called Creatives desiring marriage, daydream about how much your spouse will adore you. Now prepare for me to pop your balloon because not even that person has, had, or will have the capacity to love you in spite of any condition or circumstance whatsoever.

In their own strength, your biggest supporter is unable to have an infinite amount of patience and kindness toward you no matter what you do or say to them; nor completely forget all of the times you’ve messed up, never to be brought up or thought about again.

But that’s how the Bible describes agape love, the kind of love that only comes from the Lord.

May we have the most beautiful kingdom partnership that will put ten thousand into flight and in which love abounds but may we draw our satisfaction from the One whose adoration of us is truly unconditionally.

3. Value & Worth

Now this will preach in a social media driven culture like ours, especially for Called Creatives with front-facing assignments.

It is easy to fall into the trap of equating the quantity of likes, shares and followers with the validity or value of what you’ve created.

Even offline, we sometimes make the mistake of measuring our worth in what we do, who we’re connected to, what we wear, and the applause.

But what happens when there is no applause, no defined career path, not enough money, no ring, no name brands, and too few likes and shares to mention?  Would you see yourself as inferior?

You will be just as valuable when your business profits millions of dollars as you are right now.

You will be just as valuable when your spouse finally comes to help you execute the vision as you are right now.

You will be just as valuable when you achieve all of your heart's desires just as you are right now!

Our value and our worth is in the fact that the Lord has known and appointed us from the foundations of the earth; before our great great great grandmamas were even a thought on their mama’s mind, we were a thought on His.

In fact, our Lord found us to be so valuable and so worthy of His love and acceptance that He literally DIED for us. Took all of ickiness, put it on Himself, died with it all, defeated what defeated us and rose from the grave with all power so we can live powerful lives too.

Called Creative, in our hustle and bustle, let’s remember that the Lord is our main focus and source of everything.

I pray that as you’re building, you are not doing so from a place of deficit or lack, longing for fulfillment from what the world offers, but from confidence in knowing that satisfaction and contentment comes from Christ alone.
